Description

GEO3_SN2013 identifies the household's Commune, urban arrondissement, or village within Senegal in 2013. Commune, urban arrondissement, or village are the third level administrative units of the country, after regions and departments. A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO3_SN2013 can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.

Comparability — General

Commune, urban arrondissement, or villages with populations less than 20,000 (based on the most recent sample year) were regionalized (combined) with neighboring townships within the same departments to create units with populations greater than 20,000.
