Description
GEO2_TR2000 identifies the household's district within Turkey in 2000. Districts are the second level administrative units of the country, after provinces. A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO2_TR2000 can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.

For cross-national geographic analysis on the first and second major administrative level of any country refer to GEOLEV1, and GEOLEV2. Comparability — General
Tukey had more than 900 districts in 2000. However, there are only 255 districts available in the IPUMS International microdata. Districts were combined by the State Institute of Statistics of Turkey for confidentiality purposes. Our GIS Boundary files represent confidential zed districts provided by the State Institute of Statistics and identified in the IPUMS International microdata.
