Description

GEO2_TR1985 identifies the household's district within Turkey in 1985. Districts are the second level administrative units of the country, after provinces. A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO2_TR1985 can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.

Comparability — General

Tukey had more than 650 districts in 1985. However, there are only 167 districts available in the IPUMS International microdata. Districts were combined by the State Institute of Statistics of Turkey for confidentiality purposes. Our GIS Boundary files represent confidential zed districts provided by the State Institute of Statistics and identified in the IPUMS International microdata.
