Comparability — General
The 1984 Ethiopian sample is not included in the spatially harmonized second level geography.
Note that a few awaraja's are not available in the IPUMS sample data.
The 1984 Ethiopian sample predates the creation of modern day Eritrea from Ethiopia in 1993 following which the geography of Ethiopia has changed considerably from awraja to zones. Also, the boundary between Ethiopia and Eritrea has been a source of dispute since Eritrea became independent in 1993.
