Description

GEO1_PR2015 identifies the household's Public Use Microdata Area (PUMA) in Puerto Rico in 2015. PUMAs are the first level administrative units of the country. A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO1_PR2015 can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.

For cross-national geographic analysis on the first and second major administrative level of any country refer to GEOLEV1, and GEOLEV2. Comparability — General

Note that since the 2015 sample in IPUMS International is a 2011 to 2015 ACS sample, 2011 PUMA codes are different from the 2012-2015 PUMA codes. PUMAs in Puerto Rico are municipio groups. More details on construction of PUMAs can be found in IPUMS USA website. The following excel file lists the divisions in GEO1_PR2015.
