Description
GEO1_LC1991 identifies the household's district within Saint Lucia in 1991. Districts are the first level administrative units of the country. A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO1_LC1991 can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.

Comparability — General
Districts with populations less than 20,000 (based on the most recent sample year) were regionalized (combined) with neighboring districts to create units with populations greater than 20,000.
- Districts of Castries city, Castries rural, and Castries suburban are combined for confidentiality reasons.
- Districts of Choiseul, Laborie, and Vieux-Fort are combined in all sample years for confidentiality reasons.
- Districts of Anse-la-Raye, Canaries, Micoud, and Soufriere are combined in all sample years for confidentiality reasons.
- Districts of Dennery and Gros-Islet are combined in all sample years for confidentiality reasons.
