Description
GEO1_ID1995 identifies the household's provinces within Indonesia in 1995. Provinces are the first level administrative units of the country. A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO1_ ID1995 can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.

Comparability — General
International boundary changes:
- East Timor was a province of Indonesia between December 1975 and October 1999. It became independent and separated from East Nusa Tenggara in 1999. Census microdata for East Timor are included in the 1985, 1990, and 1995 samples.
Missing provinces:
- All provinces in Kalimantan and Sulawesi and the provinces of Maluku and Papua are missing.
