Description

GEO1_ FR1982 identifies the household's region within France in 1982. Regions are the first level administrative units of the country. A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO1_ FR1982 can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.

Comparability — General

Unlike the other samples, the 1982 sample does not include Corse.

Missing regions: The 1982 sample is missing outside metropolitan France (i.e., oversea regions).
The regions are:
