Description

GEO1_ FR1962 identifies the household's region within France in 1962. Regions are the first level administrative units of the country. A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO1_ FR1962 can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.

Missing regions: The 1962 sample is missing outside metropolitan France (i.e., oversea regions).
