Description
MIG1_10_SN indicates the person's region of residence 10 years ago within Senegal.
Click on the Source Variables tab for information on place of residence for each sample year. Source variables may contain more geographic unit detail but are not suitable for cross-temporal comparison.
Comparability — General
MIG1_10_SN is only available for the 2013 sample.
Where boundaries changed over time, units were harmonized to create units with boundaries that remain stable over time.
Boundary changes:
- In 2002 Matam was formed from parts of Saint Louis and Louga.
- In 2008 Kaffrine region split from Kaolack
- Also, there was a change in boundary between Fatick and Kaolack between the 2002 and the 2013 censuses
- In 2008 Kédougou region split from Tambacounda
- In 2008 Sédhiou region split from Kolda

Where did [the respondent] live 10 years ago? If in Senegal, enter the name of the municipality or rural community, if known, or the name of the department or region if not. Enter the name of the country if born abroad.

This question concerns people aged 10 years and older.
The place of residence (for at least 6 months) of a person 10 years ago is the place where that person lived ten years ago; that is to say in October 2003 (if the collection is held in October 2013).
Ask the question ''Where did [the respondent] live ten years ago?'' (or: ''Where did [the respondents] live in October 2003?'') According to the answer, enter legibly, if it is a locality of Senegal, the name of the municipality/rural community of residence 10 years ago if it is known or the name of the arrondissement, department or region otherwise. For those who resided outside Senegal 10 years ago, enter the name of the country. This is the usual residence in October 2003.
Attention: Do not confuse ''place of residence 10 years ago'' and ''place of residence in the last 10 years''.
