Description
LOCALMX indicates the locality in Mexico in which the households was enumerated. According to Instituto Nacional de EstadÃstica y GeografÃa (INEGI), localities represent distinct settlements which can either be a villa, pueblo, rancherÃa, congregación, or ejido, contained within a municipality. It is the smallest scale geographic identifier available in the Mexico samples.

Comparability — General
LOCALMX is harmonized by name and does not take into account changes in boundaries over time. There are no boundary files associated with the delineation of the localities.
This variable is comparable across samples, but not all localities are identified in each sample. Localities are only identifiable if they are above 50,000 in population.
