Description

GEO1_LC identifies the household's district within Saint Lucia in all sample years. Districts are the first level administrative units of the country. A GIS map (in shapefile format), corresponding to GEO1_LC can be downloaded from the GIS Boundary files page in the IPUMS International web site.

Comparability — General

Where officially-defined districts have populations under 20,000, they have been regionalized (combined) with neighboring districts.

Confidentiality issues:

• Districts of Castries city, Castries rural, and Castries suburban are combined in all sample years for confidentiality reasons.
• Districts of Choiseul, Laborie, and Vieux-Fort are combined in all sample years for confidentiality reasons.
• Districts of Anse-la-Raye, Canaries, Micoud, and Soufriere are combined in all sample years for confidentiality reasons.
• Districts of Dennery and Gros-Islet are combined in all sample years for confidentiality reasons.
