Description
MIG1_1_CA indicates the person's province of residence one year ago in Canada.
Click on the Source Variables tab for information on place of residence for each sample year. Source variables may contain more geographic unit detail but are not suitable for cross-temporal comparison.
Comparability — General
Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut are combined with Prince Edward Island.
The universe in both samples includes intra-province movers -- persons who moved between census subdivisions -- but excludes persons who moved between dwellings within the same subdivision.
The variable is similar to MIG1_5_CA, which refers to province of residence five years prior to the census.

- Canada 1991: Persons age 1+ in private households who moved between census subdivisions, not external migrants
