Description
BPLID indicates the person's province of birth within Indonesia.
Comparability — General
BPLID is comparable between censuses. Some provinces are combined to make the provinces consistent over time. The unharmonized source variables for specific sample years allow users to unmerge those provinces. BPLID codes match those used in province of residence, PROVID.
The 1995 census did not enumerate persons from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, or Papua (codes 61-94); therefore, residents of those places are not in the sample, though people could be born there. The 2005 census did not enumerate persons from Aceh and the interpretation is the same.
For the country of birth of foreign-born persons in 2010, see BPLCOUNTRY. Other samples do not give country of birth.
