Description
BPL1_CM indicates the person's province of birth within Cameroon. Birthplace province codes for BPL1_CM are compatible with codes for GEO1_CM. Refer to BPL2_CM for a person's department of birth.

Comparability — General
Where boundaries changed over time, units were harmonized to create units with boundaries that remain stable over time.
Boundary changes:
- In 1983 Centre-Sud split into two provinces - Centre and Sud.
- In 1983 Nord split into three provinces - Nord, Adamoua, and Extrême Nord.
