165. Questions P21 and P22 are meant for all persons aged 10 years or above. Look back at the age you have entered for each person. For those aged 0 to 9 years write "N/A" for Question P21, leave the rest of the column blank and continue to the next person.

Ask, "Can this person read and write a simple sentence in any language"?
166. Write 1 for "Yes" or 2 for "No".
167. This question is about both reading with understanding and writing meaningfully in any language. If a person can read but cannot write, write 2 for "No". Question P22: Marital Status
Ask, "What is (name's) marital status?"
