P11: Religion: What is [the person]'s religion?
Religion is an affiliation with a group having specific religious or spiritual tenet. The code of the religion for each member of the household should be encircled by asking each member of the household. If is "Catholic", encircle code "1", if Muslim, encircle code "6" etc.
The religion of a baby who was born from Christian parents and whose age is not reached to baptism so enumerator should encircle the code of his/her parents' religion.
If the parents belong to different religions, it is necessary to ask the religion of each child. The responses are recorded without further discussion. When a person refuses to answer the question, it is not necessary to discuss but the enumerator encircle the code "7" [No religion].
The choices of the religion codes are given below:
1 - Roman Catholics: Those who believe in Catholic faith and recognize the Pope as the head of the Church.
2 - Protestants: Group of churches which broke away from the Roman Catholic Church e.g. Anglican Church, Presbyterian, Methodists and Baptists.
3 - Adventist: Seventh-day Adventist Christians distinguished chiefly for their observance to the Sabbath
4 - Muslim: Those who profess the Moslem faith arid recognize Muhammad as the prophet of God
5 - Jehovah Witnesses: Christian sect distinguished chiefly for its observance of the name of God "Jehovah"
6 - Traditional/Animist: Those who believe in natural divine powers like Lyangombe, Nyabingi, etc..
7 - Other religion: Include people with religious affiliations other than the above-mentioned, e.g. Buddhists, Bahais, Hindus etc
8 - No religion: These are people who do not believe in the existence of super natural powers neither do they follow any particular religion.
