Description
PARISHDK2 reports the parish or street in Denmark where the household was located in the 1880 to 1885 samples. Parishes are the lowest levels of geography found in all Denmark samples.
Other geography variables for Denmark include administrative units as ADMINDK, regions identified in variable GEO1_DK1787_1885, counties identified in COUNTYDK, districts as DISTDK, and parishes in 1787, 1801, and 1845 as PARISHDK1.
PARISHDK2 is not mappable.
Comparability — General
PARISHDK2 is harmonized by name and does not take into consideration changing parish or street boundaries.
For areas outside of Copenhagen, parishes use harmonized codes and are matched according to name. PARISHDK1 uses the same coding structure for parishes as PARISHDK2, and users can select both variables if they wish to obtain comparable data for parishes across all Denmark samples.
The 1880 and 1885 samples also contain finer level geography detail within Copenhagen, allowing users to identify different portions of streets where available. Users should click on the Source Variables tab to obtain these data.
