Description

PARISHDK1 reports the parish or quarter in Denmark where the household was located in the 1787 to 1845 samples. Parishes are the lowest levels of geography found in all Denmark samples.

Other geography variables for Denmark include administrative units as ADMINDK, regions identified in variable GEO1_DK1787_1885, counties identified in COUNTYDK, districts as DISTDK, and parishes in 1880 and 1885 as PARISHDK2.

PARISHDK1 is not mappable.

Comparability — General

PARISHDK1 is harmonized by name and does not take into consideration changing parish or quarter boundaries.

For areas outside of Copenhagen, parishes use harmonized codes and are matched according to name. PARISHDK2 uses the same coding structure for parishes as PARISHDK1, and users can select both variables if they wish to obtain comparable data for parishes across all Denmark samples.
