Description

This variable indicates if the household had deaths in the last 12 months. The questionnaire and enumeration instructions did not explicitly exclude any households from answering this question, but the original data implied an implausibly low death rate for households classified as "Hospital, hotel, or lodge" or "Other collective" (see MW2008A_0027). This suggests that these household types were effectively excluded from this question. For this reason, we recoded households in those types that had an original value of "No" to "NIU (not in universe)".
