Description
MIG2_P_RW indicates the person's district of previous residence within Rwanda. Migration district codes from MIG2_P_RW are compatible with codes from GEO2_RW.
Click on the Source Variables tab for information on place of residence for each sample year. Source variables may contain more geographic unit detail but are not suitable for cross-temporal comparison.
Comparability — General
MIG2_P_RW is only available for the latest 2012 sample due to geography reorganization between 1991 and 2002 and again in the 2012 censuses. For district of previous residence in 2002, refer to MIG2ALT_P_RW. Before 2002, Rwanda was divided into prefectures that were organized to form 106 districts in 2002. The districts were reorganized again in 2012 to form thirty districts with entirely different boundaries.
