Description
MIG2ALT_P_RW indicates the person's district of previous residence within Rwanda in 2002. Migration district codes from MIG2ALT_P_RW are compatible with codes from GEO2_RW2002.

Comparability — General
MIG2ALT_P_RW is only available for 2002 sample due to geography reorganization between 1991 and 2002 and again in the 2012 censuses. For district of previous residence in 2012, refer to MIG2_P_RW and for Township of previous residence in 1991, refer to source variable. RW1991A_0413. Before 2002, Rwanda was divided into prefectures that were organized to form 106 districts in 2002. The districts were reorganized again in 2012 to form thirty districts with entirely different boundaries.
