MIG2_P_LA indicates the person's district of previous residence within Laos. Migration district codes for MIG2_P_LA are compatible with codes for GEO2_LA.

Comparability — General

Users should be aware that while all persons are included in this variable, for the Laos 2015 sample, previous residence refers to residence within the 12 months prior to the census.

Where boundaries changed over time, units were harmonized to create units with boundaries that remain stable over time. Boundary changes for MIG2_P_LA are too numerous to list here, but users should be aware that there were changes over time.

Districts with populations less than 20,000 (based on the most recent sample year) were regionalized (combined) with neighboring municipalities within the same province to create units with populations greater than 20,000.
