As was said when beginning this thematic division, the second block of the population questionnaire is formed by questions 7, 8 and 9.

All of these questions are applied only to members of the household who are 5 years old or older. If a person that you enumerate is less than 5 years old, you should cross out the whole block with two diagonally crossed lines and marked in such a manner that it crosses from corner to corner the whole block, continuing to fill out the population form corresponding to the following person.

Question 7: Place of residence 5 years ago

What is of interest here is information about the habitual residence of persons in June 1979. If you wish you can extend the question in the following manner:

In what canton and province did you (or such and such other person) reside in June 1979, that is, 5 years ago?

If a person about whom you received information lived 5 years ago or more, in the canton and is found in the Segment in which you are working, then simply mark with an X the circle that follows the word "Here". On the other hand, if they lived away from the canton which they currently inhabit, then you should write down legibly the name of the canton which it concerns and the province where it is located. Finally, if a person in the process of enumeration resided abroad, then mark only with an X the circle that is found to the right of the words "Away from the country".

Question 9: Place of Residence 5 Years Ago

This question has as its purpose determining the migrant population in a period of 5 years, that is to say, getting an idea of the special mobility of the population in a recent period.

It refers to the place of usual residence of the interviewed person in June, 1995. The possible situations are:

a. If a person lived in the same canton of current residence mark with "X" the option "In this same canton".

b. If a person lived in a canton different then their current residence, mark the alternative "In another canton" and write down the canton and province of residence in June, 1995. If they do not know the canton, write down the name of the district, of the settlement (centro poblado) or any other reference that helps to determine the correct canton.

c. If in June, 1995 the reference person was residing usually abroad, mark "in another country" and write down the name of the respective country.

You should help the enumerated person remember the place where they lived in June, 1995, associating it with historic local or national events that occurred on this date or close dates.

The place of residency five years ago refers to the place of habitual residency of each person in May 2006. The possible situations are:

In this canton: if the reference person lived in the same canton five years ago as the current residency mark option 1 and proceed to question 20.

In another canton: if the reference person lived in a different canton five years ago from the current one, mark this alternative, request the name of the canton and province and note the corresponding information. If he/she does not know the canton, note the name of the district or the population center or some other reference that can help to determine the correct canton. In this case you must also mark the province. Proceed to question 20.

In another country: if the reference person was found living habitually abroad five years ago, mark this option, and then request and mark the name of the country, if it appears on the list. If the country is not on the list, note it in the blank spaces.
