Description

MBPL indicates the state, territory, or foreign country where the person reported his/her mother was born. For details on the United States birthplaces, refer to variable MBPLUS

The codes for MBPL are the same as BPLCOUNTRY, and are compatible with IPUMS birthplace variables.

Comparability — General

MBPL is only available for Unites States 1880 to 1910 censuses and Canada 1891 census.
