LOOKJOB indicates the continuous period of time that an unemployed person has been seeking work.

Comparability — General
The categorizations are driven by the coding structure in the French samples -- most other samples are not intervalled.
Some additional samples have related data that could not be integrated into this variable. For instance, Trinidad and Tobago 2000 and 2010 have data about the last time when respondents last looked for work, but that does not indicate a continuous period of active job search. See the unharmonized source variables for more information.
The question universes are similar with slight differences in minimum age. The exception is for the Indonesian samples, which include the working population if they also had been seeking work during the week prior to the census.
Comparability — France [top]
The universe includes active unemployed persons for all samples, but the age universe changes slightly across samples. The 1962, 1968, and 1975 samples specify that the persons in universe worked in the past.
The samples are categorized differently, but are consistent at the first digit. Earlier samples provide more detail about number of months seeking a job.
Comparability — Indonesia [top]
The unharmonized source data reports the precise uncategorized number of months.
Comparability — Pakistan [top]
This variable is only available for the 1973 sample. The unharmonized source variable reports the precise uncategorized number of months.
Comparability — Poland [top]
The 2002 source data report the exact duration of seeking employment, expressed in number of months, not categorized.
Comparability — Turkey [top]
The 2000 sample contains a similar question on the time when the person last attempted to seek work, the data for which can be found in the unharmonized source variables. Data are reported in intervals.
Comparability — Uruguay [top]
The original data were reported in weeks and top-coded at 99 weeks. However, when the respondent reported the duration in months, this was converted to weeks by the enumerator by dividing by four. Weeks have been roughly converted to months, and the top-code for the integrated variable is "more than 1 year". The variable specifies uninterrupted duration of job seeking.
