Column No. 7 - What is the name of the municipality where you were born? The name of the municipality where Colombians were born will be written down and also the first three letters of the name of the department, administration or precinct.

For Colombians born abroad (that is, children of Colombian father and mother who had been born abroad and are found in Colombia, and for foreigners, the name of the country where they were born should be registered, in accordance with the current international division of countries, for example: United States, France, West Germany etc.

Do not register administrative units, administrative sections, hamlets or sites as places of birth.

In case a person gives as place of birth the name of an administrative unit, administrative section, hamlet or site, ask what municipality it belongs to and write down the name of the municipality and corresponding department.

If a person was born in another country, ask and write down the name of the country.

Fill out this question to all persons. Do not suppose that the place of birth of the children is the same as their parents.

Write clearly the names of the municipality and the department and do not used the shaded space.

30. In what municipality was [the respondent] born?

There are three alternatives: that a person was born in the municipality where you are carrying out the census; that they were born in another municipality in Colombia; or that they were born in another country.

Mark the corresponding option in accordance with the following:

1. If a person was born in the same municipality where you are enumerating, mark option 1 "here".

2. In the second case, write the name of the municipality and department of birth. Remember that you should write the name of the municipality and not of the locality, administrative section, inspectorate, administrative unit or hamlet.

3. If born outside of Colombia, write the name of the country. Be sure that it is the name of the country and not the name of a state or city; for example: Venezuela and not El Zulia or Caracas; United States and not Florida.
