Description
BPL1_AM indicates the person's province of birth in Armenia. Birthplace province codes from BPL1_AM are compatible with codes from GEO1_AM.

Comparability — General
Nagorno-Karabagh is coded as a province of birth, but it is not an official province in Armenia in 2001 and 2011. This region is de jure part of Azerbaijan, but de facto governed by the internationally unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
