Description
BPL1ALT_BF indicates the person's region of birth in Burkina Faso in 1985. Birthplace region codes from BPL1ALT_BF are compatible with codes from GEO1_BF1985. Refer to BPL2_BF and BPL2ALT_BF for a person's province of birth.

Comparability — General
In the 1985 sample the primary administrative level was organized into thirty provinces, but after 1985, the primary administrative level of Burkina Faso was completely reorganized into thirteen regions. This dramatic change in geographic organization makes integration between the 1985 sample and the later samples impossible.
