Comparability — General

The universe is ever-married persons in most samples, but is limited to currently married persons in some. A number of samples include both marital and non-marital consensual unions in their count: Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Nepal, and Uruguay.

The variable is top-coded at two or more marriages/unions in many samples. The variable as a whole is top-coded at 8 or more unions. See the codes page for category availability.

Comparability — Argentina [top]

The data record marriages and consensual unions. Only persons currently in a marriage or union were asked the question.

Comparability — Brazil [top]

Only persons currently in a marriage or union are in the universe.

Comparability — Fiji [top]

Responses are top-coded at 2 or more.
