Description
This variable indicates the person's employment status using the official or strict definition of unemployment. This definition classifies as unemployed those people within the economically active population who did not work during the seven days prior to census night, wanted to work and were available to start work within a week of census night, and had taken active steps to look for work or to start some form of self-employment in the four weeks prior to census night. The economically active population consists of those people who are employed and those who are unemployed.
