30. Place of Work

[Depiction of this completed question on the enumeration form]

If the municipality or delegation reported is the same as where the interview is being conducted, circle code 1. Here, in this municipality or delegation and continue with question 31.

If the person's job is in a different municipality than the interview, record the one that they report to you and ask for the state or country that it belongs to.

When the state reported is the same as where the interview is being conducted, circle code 3. Here, in this state.

[P. 84]

If they give you the name of a neighborhood or locality and the informant doesn't know what municipality it belongs to, record it as they report it to you in the space for "in another municipality or delegation" and ask for the entity (state).

If the answer is Mexico or Mexico City, ask them to clarify whether they mean the Federal District or the state of Mexico.

When the person does their job in different municipalities because they don't have a fixed place of work, such as can be the case with own-account workers, record the municipality of delegation where they regularly work. If the informant doesn't know what one this is, record doesn't have a fixed place of work, in the space for In another municipality or delegation.

6.5 Section III. Characteristics of the people

In this section the information of the people who inhabit the dwelling, like the sex, age, level of studies, income, among others, is obtained.

Before requesting the information for each person, copy all the names in the spaces designated for them, and for each person start with the phrase: "Now I'm going to ask about (mention the name of the person you previously noted)", so that the informer knows about whom you will be asking the information.

For persons age 12 or older
[Questions 24-35 are for persons age 12 or older]

34. Municipality, entity or country of work
These questions find out the municipality or delegation, as well as the entity of the Mexican Republic or country where the business, company, or place is located where the person worked the week before the data collection.

They are two questions, the first identifies the municipality and the second the entity or country where the business, company, or workplace is located.

[p. 116]

If the person mentions that he/she worked in the home, for example, he/she washed or cleaned different clothes, prepared food to sell, among others, circle code 1.

When the response is that he/she doesn't have a fixed municipality to work, because he/she sells some kind of product and moves around between different municipalities, solicit where he/she goes with highest frequency and record it. But if he/she doesn't have a fixed place to work, write he/she doesn't have a fixed work place in the spaces of "In another municipality" and "In another state or country".

If he/she responds with the name of a municipality or delegation different than the municipality of the interview, note the name, investigate the state of the Mexican Republic to which it belongs and record it. In the case of not obtaining the exact information, write what the informer says in the line "In another state or country".

If the response is Mexico or Mexico City, solicit if it refers to the Federal District or the state of Mexico.

37. Municipality of work and 38. State of country or work
These questions identify the municipality, state, or country to which people commute on a daily basis.

[Figures are omitted]

For question 37 "Municipality of work" circle code 1 when the workplace is in the same municipality of the interview and go to question 39 "Commute time to work". Instead, if the workplace is in a municipality or delegation different from the place of the interview, write it on the line.

If the informant mentions that he/she works in another country, circle code 3 in "Municipality of work" and continue with question 38 "State of country or work".

In state or country of work, circle code 1 if the person works in the same state or circle 3 if the person works in the United States. If the answer is another state or country, write the name in the corresponding line.

If the answer is the name of a city, colony, or locality, ask for which municipality it belongs, register it and continue with question 38 "State of country or work".

When you not get accurate information record the exact information provided by the informant without using abbreviations. Additionally, write on the corresponding line "Does not know" if the person does not know in which municipality, state, or country he/she works.

Ask for the state or country even when the informant says he/she does not know the name of municipality.

People who work at home are recorded in option 1 "Here in this municipality or township"; for example, if the person has a shop or workshop in the house, if the persons washed or fixed other people's clothes, prepared food to sell, among others.

If the person says that the workplace is in Mexico or in the City of Mexico, ask whether he/she refers to the Federal District or the State of Mexico and register it.

When the answer is that the person has no fixed municipality to work because he/she travel through different municipalities, consider the municipality visited most frequently and write it down.
