Description

MIG1_P_UY indicates the person's previous department of residence within Uruguay.

Click on the Source Variables tab for information on place of residence for each sample year. Source variables may contain more geographic unit detail but are not suitable for cross-temporal comparison.

Comparability — General

Everyone who moved between localities was to respond, thus their previous department may match their current department of residence.

Only a subset of respondents was asked the migration question in the 2006 survey. The variable is otherwise comparable between samples.

Department of residence 5 years ago (MIG1_5_UY) is available in the samples for 1975, 1985, 1996 and 2006.

  • Uruguay 1963: Persons who ever lived outside the department of residence
  • Uruguay 2006: Persons in the fourth sample trimester who ever lived in a different locality
  • Uruguay 2011: Persons who ever lived outside the department of residence
