MIG1_P_LA indicates the person's province of previous residence in Laos. Migration province codes from MIG1_P_LA are compatible with codes from GEO1_LA.

Comparability — General

Xaisômboun special region was dissolved in 2006, with Longsan, Xaysomboun, Phun, and Hom districts being added to Vientiane province and Thathon district being added to Xiengkhuang province. In 2013, Xaisômboun special region was re-established.

Users should be aware that while all persons are included in this variable, for the Laos 2015 sample, previous residence refers to residence within the 12 months prior to the census.
