Question 2 "Status of dwelling"
Case 1 (dwelling inhabited by permanent residents) will be recorded with X when the dwelling is permanently inhabited by a household.
For vacant dwellings, X will be recorded in one of the cases 2-7 of question 2 (status of dwelling). A dwelling is considered vacant if it was uninhabited during the census taking because:
[] Is intended for renting (case 2),
[] Is intended for sale (case 3),
[] Is used as a secondary residence from time to time and it was uninhabited during the census taking (case 4),
[] Is used as vacation residence and it was uninhabited during the census taking (case 5),
[] Is intended for demolition (case 6),
[] Is vacant for any other reason (case 7), e.g. the owner migrated or relocated or it is new in the final stages of construction or under repair or the owner passed away and his heirs do not reside in it etc. If the answer is case 7 then the reason for vacancy should be recorded in full.
In the case of vacant (for rent , sale etc.) regular dwellings, wherever possible, the enumerator should try to collect information from the neighbours for completing questions 3-12. In cases 8, 9 and 10, an answer will be recorded with X where appropriate (vacation, secondary or other case) for non-permanently inhabited dwellings that the numerator found people in them during the census taking.
