Description

DEDIE reports the District Electoral Division (DED) in Ireland where the household was located. DED’s are the second level subnational units in Ireland. Other geography variables for the historical Irish censuses include COUNTYIE, andTOWNIE.

Comparability — General

The territory of both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland is included in DEDIE.

DEDIE is harmonized by name and does not take into consideration changing DED boundaries.
