For persons age 10 or over (born on or before July 31, 1990)
[Applies to questions 4.36 - 4.61]

Question 4.44 - How many jobs did you have during the week of July 23 to 29, 2000? (Work in production for personal consumption should be counted only when it is the only work exercised).

Record the total number of full or part-time jobs that the person had during the week of reference; that is, at how many enterprises the person had work during that week.

Although, strictly speaking, a person who worked in remunerated domestic service is not subordinated to an enterprise, by convention, this type of activity should be counted as if it were an enterprise; regardless of the number of units where the person exercised the remunerated domestic work, the activity should be considered a single job.

Only consider work in production for personal consumption if this is the only work carried out during the period.

1 - One
2 - Two or more

Main Work

Questions 4.45 to 4.50 refer only to the work or the main work that the person had during the week of reference.
For persons who had more than one job during the week of reference, use the following criteria in the specified numbered order to define the main work:

  • the main work will be that in which the person dedicated the greatest number of hours usually worked per week, regardless of being remunerated or non-remunerated;

[pg. 122]

  • if these numbers are the same, the work that the person has exercised for the longest time, regardless of being remunerated or non-remunerated;
  • if the person has been at these jobs for the same length of time, the main one will be that which provides the highest income.
