Write the name of the district of birth. If born in the Panama Canal Zone, write "Canal Zone". If born abroad, write the name of the country of birth.

Question 6 Where were you born?

For persons born within the territory of the Republic, write the name of the district and the locality where the person to be enumerated was born. Example: San Félix, Macaracas, Cañazas. For this Census, La Comarca de San Blas is considered a district.

The alphabetic list of the districts that form the Republic has been included as an annex so that one can verify if the name that the person to be enumerated has given really corresponds to one of those districts.

If the person to be enumerated was born in the Panama Canal Zone, write "Canal Zone".

If the person to be enumerated was born outside of the Republic, write the name of the country of birth.

In the case of persons born in colonies or territories of foreign countries, write the names of those countries. Example: Jamaica, Curazao, The Virgin Islands, Martinique, etc.

Question 6 Where were you born?

Mark the box "Here" if the person was born in the same locality (village or city) where the person is being enumerated. In this case do not fill out the other spaces of the question.
If the person was born in another locality, write down in the corresponding space the name of this locality (village or city) and the district to which it belongs.
If the person was born in the Panama Canal Zone, write "Canal Zone" in the space meant for "Locality". For those born abroad, write the name of the country of birth in the space that says "In other Country".
In the case of Panama City and the city Colon and other important urban centers, consider these as a single locality.

Keep in mind that Panama City is comprised of 13 administrative units and the city of Colon of 2 administrative units. As an annex (on page 60) the alphabetic list of the districts and administrative units that form the Republic are included, and furthermore the administrative units of the aforementioned cities are included in order to verify if the name that has been given corresponds effectively to one of these districts or administrative units of Panama City or the city of Colon.

Question No 7: Where did your mother live when you were born?

The objective of this question is to determine persons whose habitual place of residence at the date of the census differs from their place of reference (mother's residence) at the moment of birth.
Remember that this question refers to the locality where the mother lived when the enumerated person was born and not the place where they stayed in the hospital or other site where she moved to give birth.

Question No 10: Where did your mother live when you were born?
[Questions 10 to 12A were asked to all persons.]
The objective of this question is to determine the lifetime migrant, i.e. persons whose habitual place of residence at the date of the census differs from their place of reference (mother's residence) at the moment of birth.
Mark with an "X" the circle "In this place" if a person declares that her mother lived in the same locality where she is being enumerated "when she was born".
When a person says that her mother was living "in another locality" "when she was born", write down the name of the district and the province or indigenous region to which the locality belongs to and go to question 11.
For those who say that their mother lived "in another country" "when they were born", write down the name of the country and go to question 10A.

Objective: To know the time of arrival to Panama of people born in another country.
Ask this question if the respondent stated in question 10 that her mother lived in another country when she was born, and specify the period in which she arrived in Panama.
