BPLCL2 indicates the province in Chile in which the person was born, according to the pre-1974 geographic system.

Comparability — General
In 1974, the Chilean government decentralized the administrative regions of its country, and many larger provinces were broke up into smaller size provinces. In addition, some municipalities were created, disappeared, or changed boundaries. See GEO1ALT_CL for a discussion of these changes.
