Description

BPLCA2 indicates the person's place of birth in Canada.

Enumerators were required to collect information on the foreign country of birth, or the province if the person was born in Canada. In practice, however, some respondents indicated Canadian locations below the provincial level, such as metropolitan areas, cities and towns, or parts of the Territories not yet administratively distinct from each other. Users should note that BPLCA retains information on place of birth, which was not consistently recorded.

BPLCA2 is only available for the pre-1950 Canadian censuses.
