This variable indicates the person's employment status using the expanded definition of unemployment. This definition classifies as unemployed those people within the economically active population who did not work during the seven days prior to census night, and wanted to work and were available to start work at some time in the future. The economically active population consists of those people who are employed and those who are unemployed.
