Comparability — General
ESTABSZ is not coded compatibly because of inconsistencies in the groupings in the different samples. Users must recode them to suit their purposes for specific samples.
The universe of respondents for India, Argentina and Uruguay differs notably from other samples.
Comparability — Argentina [top]
The universe in all years includes only owner-employers and private sector employees. The size categories of establishments differ between 1980-1991 and 2001.
Comparability — Paraguay [top]
The universe only includes private sector workers.
Comparability — Portugal [top]
The universe in all samples includes persons in the labor force.
The 2011 sample has more detailed breakdowns of some categories. Note that the "21 to 100" category is actually "20 to 99" in 2011. See the source variable for full detail on the original groupings.
Comparability — Switzerland [top]
For the 2011 sample, the original variable for the size of establishment is continuous and includes decimals. The decimals seem to be appropriate as they measure full-time equivalence. The values are transformed into intervals during harmonization.
Comparability — Uruguay [top]
The universe only includes private sector workers.
