The universe changes over time with regards to the age of respondents. In the 1976 and 1992 samples, the question is asked of women older than 12 years old who ever gave birth; and the 2001 and 2012 samples ask for women older than 15 years old.

The universe changes over time with regards to the age of respondents. In the 1973 sample, the question is asked of women between 15 and 49 years of age; in 1985 it was 15 and older; and in 1993 and 2005 12 and older.
