Sample design A 10% stratified sample of all units observed during the last census with the exception of nomadic households, homeless people and the population counted separately drawn by National Statistical Office. The stratification criteria are the administrative and geographical subdivisions (regions, provinces, municipalities and urban centers) and the type of housing. This sample is considered largely sufficient to ensure representativeness at the national, regional and provincial levels with a breakdown of the indicators according to the main demographic and socio-economic characteristics (sex, place of residence, age groups, type of housing, etc.) .

Dwellings A dwelling unit is made of one or several living rooms, with one or several direct entrances
Households A household refers to a group of individuals living under the same roof and having common daily expenses, without being necessarily united by family ties. A household may be sedentary, nomadic, or homeless.
Collective dwellings Community living establishments for professional, social, health or educational reasons: soldiers, gendarmes and agents of auxiliary forces living in barracks, neighborhoods, military camps and the like; workers housed in huts on public works sites and not having a habitual residence; prisoners in prisons; people living in charitable homes, in retirement homes, in homes for supervised education, in child protection centers and in the zaouias; people hospitalized for at least 6 months; pupils and internal students in public and private educational establishments on the census reference date.
